Mark Wahlberg Named National Dignity U Wear Spokesperson

Today is an exciting day! We are thrilled to announce our partnership with actor and producer Mark Wahlberg. Mark will be the official National Spokesperson for our organization, promoting our work on a national platform.

“Our team is excited to be working with such a well-respected actor and producer, and also someone who shares our commitment to help children,” said Bob Bryan, Executive Director.

To launch the partnership, Wahlberg will host a fundraising dinner in New York City this month to benefit Dignity’s mission. “This fundraiser will help raise our profile in New York and the garment district. So many of our friends in the apparel industry are in New York, and we want them to be able to participate fully in the life of the charity,” said Bob.

Malcolm Robinson, President Maidenform Brands Inc., chairs the Dignity U Wear New York Advisory Committee and is spearheading the industry-wide campaign for the nonprofit. “We are excited to have Mark who understands the needs of so many Americans working with us. By bringing attention to the mission of Dignity U Wear, Mark will help Dignity reach a new level of service in helping so many disadvantaged people,” added Malcolm.

Currently enjoying resounding success as Executive Producer of Boardwalk Empire, Wahlberg is best known for his roles in The Fighter, The Departed, and Boogie Nights. He is also well known for his charitable work with the Mark Wahlberg Youth Foundation, which he established in 2001 to improve the quality of life for inner city youth. A lifelong member and advocate of the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, Wahlberg came from a family of nine children and spent most of his afternoons and evenings at his local club. He credits a large part of his success to the positive and nurturing environment of the Boys and Girls Club.

In December, Dignity will provide brand new wardrobes to 300 children at a Christmas party at the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester, Massachusetts, where Wahlberg grew up. The mission of the Boys and Girls Club in Dorchester is to inspire and enable all young people, from diverse circumstances, to realize their full potential by providing opportunities for personal growth to become contributing, caring and responsible members of the community.

Welcome to the Dignity family, Mark!  Stay tuned for more details.
