Volunteer
At Dignity U Wear, we don’t just appreciate our volunteers—we couldn’t run our organization without them! Ninety-five percent of the work we do with the new clothing we receive is handled by our volunteers.
The volunteer experience at the ware house is rewarding because you can see so clearly the good you are doing and it is easy to enjoy interacting with fellow volunteers while you work. From Tuesday through Saturday we host up to 30 volunteers to count, sort and fold the clothing donations. We welcome individuals and groups.
If volunteering in the warehouse isn’t the best fit for you, we have lots of other opportunities, including:
- Clerical/ Administrative Support—Do you love making sure things stay organized? We need help with filing, special projects, updating bulletin boards, and more
- IT Support—Keeping an updated database is so important to our ability to communicate with our supporters. If you have a keen eye for attention to detail, then we need your help updating our database
- Social Media—Help us to spread the word about Dignity U Wear by launching a social media campaign for us.
- Agency Communications – We need help keeping our agency partners informed of our activities and learning more about their successes as well. If you have an interest in how social service agencies impact their communities, this could be a really rewarding opportunity.
- Fundraising—We need fundraisers for all of our initiatives and campaigns. If you have a passion for making sure people in need receive the gift of new clothes, then you could be a great fundraising captain. Click here to see our clothing drives and events. Leadership Opportunities
Our Board of Directors as well as our New York Advisory Committee are comprised of people representing diverse companies from across the country. We also have a wide range of committees that need the expertise and leadership that you may have. Committees include:
- PR and Marketing
- Strategic Planning
- Veterans Initiative Advisory Committee
- Women and Girls Assistance Committee
- Dignity Excellence Committee
- Undie Sunday Undie Monday Committee
- Runway to Dignity Committee

Host a Fundraising Event
Hosting your own fundraiser is a fun way to raise money for a great cause. Whether you host a house party, car wash, bake sale, or come up with some super creative idea—your fundraiser can raise money that will ensure that people in real need get new clothes. You can even fundraise to support one of our specific initiaves that has special meaning for you. See our current events.
