Dignity U Wear Recognizes Destination Maternity for Their Support of Women in Need
This morning, we had the honor of presenting a commemorative plaque to Destination Maternity®. We are pleased to award them for their work helping women who have suffered domestic violence, emotional and/or physical abuse, or are at risk to drop out of school. Barbara Truncellito, Dignity’s Development Director, presented the plaque to Ed Krell, CEO of Destination Maternity Corporation, as a sign of gratitude for his leadership role in facilitating this partnership as well as for the company’s charitable work benefitting disadvantaged women.
As the world’s largest retailer of maternity clothing, Destination Maternity supplies expectant moms with fashionable and comfortable maternity apparel at all price points. In addition, the company has made it their mission to reach out to pregnant women in the United States who cannot afford the necessary maternity clothes. With this particular partnership with Dignity U Wear, Destination Maternity ensures that those without the means to buy maternity clothes are not forgotten. Since 2005, Destination Maternity has donated over 3,000 boxes of clothing, valued at $1.7 million, to Dignity U Wear.
“We’re so grateful that Destination Maternity has become such a strong partner to Dignity U Wear,” said Bob Bryan, Executive Director. “Acquiring maternity clothing for disadvantaged women across the United States had been a real challenge for us until they stepped up and made a commitment to support our efforts. Since our partnership started they have provided more than $1 million dollars in new maternity clothing. When a woman is facing an uncertain future due to a domestic violence situation, economic challenges or other difficult circumstances, receiving apparel makes a huge difference in how she feels about herself and her pregnancy. It provides her with a little hope, where there wasn’t any before.”
“Destination Maternity is proud to serve organizations like Dignity U Wear across the nation. As leaders in the maternity fashion industry, we have a responsibility to give back and help the community,” said Ed Krell, CEO of Destination Maternity Corporation. “We look forward to a continued partnership with Dignity U Wear in order to benefit women in need.”
